Colours

I've recently discovered Sumo Salad, a salad bar in the basement of Raffles City. For $8.90, you can get a medium bowl ($10.90 for the large) and a choice of up to 3 different kinds of salads (4 for the large, I think). Now, before you start poo poo-ing this and tell me I'm eating grass (yes Yummy, I'm looking at you), there are vegetarian and non-vegetarian options and a ridiculously wide variety of salads to choose from.

And I must say, it's addictive. I love being able to choose 3 different types of salads, mixing and matching whatever I feel like eating that day. And I've noticed that I've also started eating more colours- orange pumpkins, white beans, black mushrooms, red beets (or are they purple), brown olives and of course green erm.. greens.

Healthy and tasty. What more could you ask for?

How Does It Work?

Technology is amazing, I must say. i update my blog by email, by writing my blog post in my email body and sending it to a specific email address. Seconds after I click on send, my blog gets updated!

How does it work? It's amazing.

Three Weeks

My application for three weeks off in June has been approved and since then I've been trying to figure out what to do during this time.

It all started with me wanting to go to Europe. Couple of years ago, I thought it'd be a good idea to quit my job sometime in Oct 2011 (for those of you wondering why, it's because my birthday on 7 Oct and I'd be embarking on my third decade on earth.) The plan was to take 3 months off and just travel.

Europe was where I thought I'd go. And while I didn't really have any burning desire to see anything specific, a 46 day camping Contiki tour caught my eye. It was a whirlwind tour covering 23 cities (I think) all over Europe, and since it was done camping style, the trip would be relatively affordable.

Of course, fast forward to 2011 and while I've been *talking* about going, I haven't really done any preparation (reading up, or more importantly, saving up for the trip. Lol.) So taking a shorter trip seemed to make sense.

Surfed the Contiki website again, and found a shorter tour which didn't cover as many cities, but seemed to spend a good amount of time in France and Italy. Unfortunately, the flights for the tour dates didn't really work out and I'd have to choose between flying off later (not possible), or spending a good 600-700 bucks more to get a flight with proper timing.

Feeling defeated, I opted to go for a safer and familiar destination: India. I could book return tickets to Bangalore, and spend some time with the grasshopper, then traipse off on a train ride around India. Maybe I'd even trek in Ladakh! I threw the idea to the grasshopper, but he said that he could only confirm when he was back in Bangalore. The office had a few events lined up that he had to travel to. Also, I checked with LGG and Ching, and while Ching was keen to go to Ladakh, LGG already had booked tickets to Brisbane.

A new trip has cropped up, and it's to climb Mt Kilimanjaro in October. If that pans out, I might scrap plans to travel in June (maybe a short trip to India to see the grasshopper). Let's see how that goes.

So what's the point of this entry? Where am I going? I have absolutely no idea. It's just amazing that something as seemingly easy to plan as a three week holiday isn't that simple after all. Lol.

Pics!

It's embarrassing to admit that I can't remember the last time I uploaded pictures from my camera. The iPhone allows me to take pictures on the go, and the Facebook application lets me upload them instantly. The last time I used my digital camera was during my Krabi trip over the New Year, and I've yet to upload the pictures. Yikes.

I somehow decided that I would upload them today, but I don't recall any cable, and I knew it had something to do with the memory card inside. My macbook doesn't have an in-built card reader and it took me a while to remember that I used to have a portable card reader. And obviously, I don't know where it is now. Hmmm.

But I'll try to upload the pictures soon. If I can figure out how.

A Day Out

I don't usually head out on weekends but was hankering for a giant slab of steak, so I made plans to have lunch with Carol. She was on her way to town for a hair and pedicure appointment but could swing by and pick me up and squeeze some time to eat before she had to go to the salon.

We went to the Black Angus Steakhouse at the Orchard Parade Hotel and I ordered a 10oz. New York Steak. Also ordered a blooming onion to share. We had a nice chat over lunch and somehow I decided to follow her for a hairwash after. Like a taitai. Heehee.

The lady at the salon did a nice shoulder and back massage and washed my hair with something that was nice and minty (and good for my scalp). I would have fallen asleep but was having a Whatsapp discussion with Ching and Wen on how and when we should go to Ladakh.

Headed to Borders after that with ncely curled hair, and was tempted to by a Learn How To Speak Hindi audiobook. Was also tempted to buy a phrasebook which might come in handy for my upcoming holiday.

Then walked around Ion and got lost, bought myself a yami yogurt, asked the concierge where the taxi stand was and am now on my eay back home.

This is why I don't go out more on weekends. It's crowded, you end up spending too much money, and at the end of the day all you really wanted was to sleep. Lol.

Anyway, I'm glad I'm on my way home. Nothing beats being snug in bed on a cold rainy day.

Twilight Moment

The grasshopper just landed in San Fransisco for a work trip. He got to the hotel, chatted a little online, and is now prepping for bed. I asked him to leave the video on so that I could watch him sleep. The time difference means that I can sneak a peek at him when I'm bored at work, and will be able to wake him up to get ready in the morning. Likewise, he can give me a morning call to wake me up.

Twilight sia.
