18 Months!

Say what? The boy is 18 months? I'm now receiving facebook memories notifications from a year ago, and the boy used to be so little!

It's great watching him grow. He walks confidently and breaks out in a little run once in a while, and is always on the move. He loves pointing out things he sees - ball! car! airplaaaaaaaaaaaaane! dog! aircon! light! clock!

He also recognises the few of us - me (mama!), +3 (daddy!), grandma (yoya! for lola), grandpa (ko ko! for gong gong) and nanny (nana!).

The boy loves his fruit and noodles, and thankfully eats abit more these days but he's still skinny at 9.3kg. His weight is in the 25 percentile range, and height (81cm) at the 50 percentile range.

We had some friends over the other day and I'm glad that he wasn't possessive over his toys. He let the twin boys play with his balls and stuff, but quietly pushed his busy board (current fav toy) under the sofa. Hehehe. He also had his first encounter playing with dogs and I'm so proud that he wasn't afraid to approach them at all.

If I had to describe his personality, I'd say he is an independant boy who knows how to entertain himself. But he is also a sociable boy, and enjoys interacting with the people around him. He shows his affection by asking for hugs and to be carried.

He's a curious boy and likes to explore new things and places. And he also has a cheeky sense of humour (just like his parents), loving to laugh at the silliest things.

I'm still waiting for him to sleep through the night though. He currently shares the bed with us. Ever since he had HFMD, he probably got used to sleeping in the bed with us and now doesn't like going back to his crib.

It's all good though. They only stay young for so long before wanting to assert their independence, and soon I'm sure he'll he asking to sleep in his own room. Till that day comes, I'm gonna savour these moments (even the kicks in the belly when he does a 90 degree turn).

Teething Is No Joke

Wah, and I thought it was bad when his first couple of teeth started cutting in. MOLARS ARE WORSE. Poor boy wakes up screaming at night cos of the discomfort.

He's got 16 teeth now, with his 4 molars making their appearance slowly. Apparently there are 4 more molars, but they will only come out later when he is about 2 or so.

Time flies and the boy will be 18 months soon. We were initially planning to put him in a childcare centre but the one we registered him for was really slow in replying (if at all) to my emails. Plus we weren't that keen cos every time I walked past the kids would be playing legos or looking out the window or napping - I don't think I actually saw any class time.

Looking for a new childcare centre but that's a challenge considering how many young families there are in the Sengkang and Punggol area. On the waiting list for a number of them, so let's see how that goes.
