Bookworm

My boss saw a copy of Neil Gaiman's Anansi Boys on my desk today. This is the conversation that followed.

Boss: Why is everyone reading Neil Gaiman?
Me: Why not?
Boss: You like fantasy huh.
Me: Yeah.
Boss: Living in a fantasy world huh.
Me: Better than some sordid romance novel, right?
Boss: *starts narrating, with accompanying actions* He held her against his pulsating body...
Everyone in the office: ?!?!?!

LOL

What Kind Of I Are You

Was watching one of those travel shows on the telly just now. The host was in Rishikesh, India and was speaking to one of the swamis there.

The swami said something that I liked. He said something along the lines of: if you choose to be proud, have an ego, just like a vertical 'I', you'd just be like a divider, a barrier.

Whereas if you choose to bend down, be humble, share, just like a horizontal 'I', you'd be like a bridge of love.

(Ok the swami phrased it better.)

He also said that you don't have to go to a cave, a forrest, or the Himalayas just to medidate. You are the one that needs to be at peace, no matter where you are. True too.

Lazy Bunny - Updates For The Month

Hehe I've been rather lazy to update the blog this month. Nothing much has been happening, really. Watched a couple of movies this month- Taken, Star Trek, and a couple more that I can't recall now.

(Hmm talk about a waste of money if I can't even remember. Lol.)

I've started going to the gym again. It's always easier when you've got an exercise partner, and my colleague has been a source of motivation for me since her enthusiasm is quite contagious. We've only gone a couple of times, but I do hope we manage to make it a regular thing.

I'm still waiting for my work travel schedule to be confirmed- India, Indonesia, Vietnam this year. And I might be taking some time off in June to *blush* try to pass my driving test once and for all. Lol

I need to plan a holiday for the end of the year. The cousins originally discussed going to Shanghai in December, but we can't confirm dates yet. I also want to bring my parents somewhere, but we have no idea where.

2010 personal travel plans- China/Tibet in June. *rubs hands in glee* How exciting!

And, *crossing fingers*, I'm thinking that I want to do an extended trip to Europe in 2011 to celebrate my 30th birthday.

Whee! I love thinking about holidays!

Lazy Bunny

Been too lazy to blog these days. Nothing much has been happening, just the usual meeting friends for dinner and going out to catch a couple of movies here and there. Work has been ok, not much to complain about.

I've been tweeting though, you can follow the random thoughts in my head here:

Guess What I Found

I found a picture of the ex-Husband and his current squeeze- presumably the girl he was cheating on me with while we were still married. I'm not sure how I feel.

For one, I'm glad she's actually not that pretty. Lol. I vaguely remember her and I know she has a nice body (saw her at the gym a few times - she was his client), and I honestly thought she was a lot prettier than what I see in the picture.

At some level, I'm angry- this is the girl that made my husband cheat on me. But then, that just shows what kind of person she is (and he is too) and what goes around really does come around, so I'm not too fussed about that.

I was also initially rather annoyed that he would go around openly "flaunting" his new relationship- but then we're already legally divorced so what's there to stop him, right?

Oh well. I honestly can't really be arsed. I guess I was just surprised that I'd find something like this while randomly surfing the net.

It's A Sunshiney Day

Woke up feeling really happy this morning, I don't know why. I think I had a really nice dream, but I can't remember what it was. I did have a song in my head when I woke up though, but that's probably because I've been listening to it for almost 2 whole days.

I'm late for work. Hehehe. Better get ready and grab something to eat.

Note To Self

Don't rub eyes if you have eyeliner on. Makes you look like a panda and causes random strangers to smile (sympathetically?) at you.

Lucky for me, I have makeup remover wipes in the office.

Finally

Was chatting with Ki this morning. Rather, I was complaining about not knowing where to go for lunch. And the best part is? I wasn't even hungry. Lol.

Anyway, decided to walk around Raffles City to buy some Lysol and hand sanitiser (sanitisor?) but they're all sold out! Was too lazy to see if other malls had any, so bought me a stick of sotong balls, and a stick of crab claw and walked around window shopping.

Felt thirsty and hankering for something sweet, so am now at Starbucks sipping a Chai Tea Latte and having a chocolate chip muffin. Delicious.

Anyway, it's already May! 2008 seems like a lifetime ago, and in manyways, it was. I'm just so glad to be where I am today, that I'm not feeling bitter or sorrowful, and that I'm generally in a good mood every day.

Other things I should have blogged about but was feeling lazy. I attended the Aware EGM and even helped out as a volunteer for the We Are Aware camp. It was an amazing day as thousands of women stepped up to make their voices heard.

The atmosphere in the hall was riotous and just being in there (shouting and screaming as well) was such an amazing feeling. I got to meet people I wouldn't have otherwise known, and I do hope we'll be able to keep in touch.

After the EGM, a few of us went to watch Wolverine. Woot! According to one of my temps, the storyline wasn't accurate, but I enjoyed myself nonetheless.

Spent the rest of Sunday veg-ing out and watching movies, finally finished watching Before Sunrise and Before Sunset. I'm smitten.

I also watched Muriel's Wedding, which I thought was so-so.

Hmm random people have been smiling at me. Do I have something in my teeth?

My Blonde Moment Today - Jeremy Otaki

I was having breakfast in the office this morning and was chatting with LGG.

me: i wonder who invented otak.
LGG: Jeremy Otaki. He was a Japanese who lived in Penang in 1874.
me: really?

Ta ma de. I can't believe I actually thought she was telling the truth. I should have guessed - Japanese don't mash their fish! How can Jeremy Otaki be Japanese!!!

Lol.

(Ok, for those who really think Jeremy Otaki exists... *headdesk* He doesn't!)

Good one, LGG.
