The Mirror

Since coming back from my Krabi holiday, I've been having to pull late nights in the office almost every day. The weekend trips don't help, and I've had less time to complete the stuff I need to do. I'm not the only one doing OT, of course. Most of the time you'll find me, my teammate (need to think of a nickname for him but will call him Slutty for now lol) and my boss (Bento Set), the last ones working away in the office.

My office cubicle is one of three "corners". Slutty sits in the middle corner, I sit to his left and another colleague (Whiny.. and now renamed Sneaky) sits to his right. Which means Whiny/Sneaky and I sit diagonally across each other, back to back.

On late nights, Bento Set usually pops over to our litte corner, sits on Whiny/Sneaky's desk and we all turn abd face inward and just chit chat. It's these moments that I enjoy the most about working late- where we gossip and chatter on without having to worry about other colleagues hearing what we say.

One night, Bento Set went over to Whiny/Sneaky's desk as usual when he suddenly said, "Omg bon! You have to see this! Whiny/Sneaky can see your computer!!!"

Not sure what he was talking about, I get up and walk over and tells me to sit at her desk and look at the mirror. Sure enough, instead of my reflection staring back at me, I see the reflection of my computer screen perfectly.

Bitch.

So being the passive aggressive person that I am, I decided to change my wallpaper to one that said, "STOP STARING AT MY LAPTOP, BITCH!!!"

In reverse font. Wahahahahaha. (Thanks esdee!)

I eventually decided to remove the word "bitch" but that wallpaper made me quite happy for a couple of days.

Whiny/Sneaky also had this really annoying habit of talking LOUDLY on the phone, so loud that you could hear her clearly from the far end of the office. On a particularly inspired day, I changed my wallpaper to say, "IT'S NOT NECESSARY TO TALK SO LOUDLY ON THE PHONE".

Then of course, I realised that she probably couldn't see the messages when I was doing work, so I set both wallpapers as my screen saver. Hehehe. I can be sneaky too, eh?

Anyway, perhaps it's a coincidence. Perhaps my wallpaper and screen savers were a success. But Whiny/Sneaky now doesn't seem to talk so loudly on the phone anymore, and the mirror has been adjusted. Hehe. Small triumphs.

Radio Silence Finally Broken

Ack! I realise it's been a while since I updated on this space, and there really isn't any reason for it but sheer laziness. (Oh wait, I can blame being busy at work!)

Lol well it's true. I have been busy at work, with photo shoots, ad campaigns, planning for our Open House, more photo shoots, updating various web and print collateral, and three trips to Indonesia within the month. But all is good, I have really supportive colleagues and apart from wondering where all the time went and rushing deadlines, things aren't as bad as they seem.

The downside of being so busy at work and flying out of town so much is that I've barely had the time to for my (really expensive) Muay Thai classes. I have back to back meetings that eat into lunch time, and by the time I get to sit down and start on getting work done, it's almost the end of the day which means I'll have to clock in overtime to finish up my stuff. I hope that once I'm back from my last work trip of the month, I'll have more time to go for clasd. Boxing gloves, mama misses you.

On a happier note, LGG introduced me to Malibu, a Carribean rum with coconut, that tastes oh-so-yummy when you have it with pineapple juice. Slurp. It reminds you of being at the beach and it's so yummy and easy to drink and before you realise what's going on, you're giggling nonstop cos you're already drunk. Hehehe.

I've also been trying to figure out what allergies I might have, so I decided to start a food diary. Didn't want to clutter up this space, so got myself a posterous account and planned to take note of everything I consumed in order to see if there were any patterns in my food / drink intake which correlated to my allergic reactions.

Of course, I soon forgot the purpose of the posterous account as got all trigger happy, uploading every single food picture that I had stored on my iPhone. Which sort of defeats the purpose of the food diary, but the pictures are all so pretty and make me happy to look at. And being happy is what's important, right? Heehee.

The happiest thing this month has got to be crossing the 18 month mark with the grasshopper. The funny thing is despite the distance, it feels like we've known each other forever. I have a good feeling about us, and friends and family who have met him seem to like him. Yay!

He has also decided to quit smoking, and I'm so proud of him for that. I know it must be tough, and so far it's been 25 days and counting. *grin*

Anyway, that's about it I think. Oh, Mark is here for a week before heading to China with my sister and his folks to visit their ancestoral village. Sounds exciting though I don't want
to imagine the toilets. Lol.

Alright, gonna try to get some sleep. Went to bed at 10ish and woke up at 3ish and have been up for the past two hours or so. Long day ahead. Zzz.

2011

Half a month into the new year and I've not really written about what I think 2011 is going to be like. Based on the past couple of weeks, I suspect it'll be a busy year ahead, but one that is stable and not filled with too much drama.

I was going to say that I don't think I'll be traveling much this year, but already I have made a work trip to Surabaya, and have trips planned to Jakarta and Medan in the coming weeks. Lol.

The plan this year is to start saving money seriously. Always good to save, heehee. I also will try to eat more healthily this year.

I think those are the only 2 resolutions I have this year, if you can call them resolutions. I had a third, which was to start going for language classes, but when I went they were closed. Pfft.

Oh I also want to try cooking more this year, just because it's always nice to whip up yummy food in the kitchen. Shall get LGG a rolling pin for her birthday haha.

Anyway I think 2011 will be a good year and I'm excited about it. And I'll be 30 this year! Wah so old. Lol.
